Rebecca Monks has succeeded in giving us a book that is not only rich in dialogue regarding Biblical text, but one that illuminates how these inspired words may effect godliness in our daily lives. One of her introductory sentences captures the essence of this extraordinary volume when she says, “Ultimately, every chapter builds on one main theme: our crucial need for a deeper, more intimate relationship with God.” Chapter 7 alone—where she lavishly discusses the distinct promises that are connected to the many names of God— is reason enough to own this book, one I highly recommend.
